The District Council of Mount Barker owns the Meadows Memorial Hall and has insurance cover for the hall and surrounding grounds which covers the organiser but does not cover the stallholders, their helpers or their products. Stallholders are required to have insurance.

I understand that I am totally responsible for my trading practices and insurance coverage and I will not hold the organiser (Meadows Memorial Hall Management Committee) or the District Council of Mount Barker responsible for my actions during my trading at the Meadows Country Market.

Meadows Country Market Rules

MEADOWS COUNTRY MARKET

Second Sunday of every month

Managed by the Meadows Memorial Hall Committee

  1. The Meadows Memorial Hall and surrounds is owned by the District Council of Mount Barker. The Council has insurance covering the hall and the Meadows Memorial Hall Committee, but does not cover stallholders, their helpers or their products. The Council therefore requires each stallholder to have their own insurance, and Product Liability insurance if you sell food products.
     
  2. The market is open to the public from 9 am to 3 pmas advertised each month. You are expected to continue trading until 3 pm unless sold out or are given permission to leave (see Dot, Ruth or Malcolm). Please do not pack up if customers are still wanting to buy.
     
  3. No stallholders are to move vehicles through the market area while the public are walking about (insurance risk).
     
  4. Please book your site from month to month. If you have booked and cannot come to the market, PLEASE LET SOMEONE KNOW (phone numbers are at the bottom of the page) so that we can reallocate your site to someone else. The inside sites are set up on Thursday so it is desirable that you let us know before this day.
     
  5. If you are able to help advertise the market by distributing brochures, or you know of places where we could advertise, please see Dot.
     
  6. No raffle tickets are to be sold at the market.
     
  7. Outside stallholders please make sure all tables and awnings are safe for you, the public and other stallholders. All awnings, signs etc MUST BE TIED DOWN SECURELY in case of unexpected wind gusts.
     
  8. Please put your goods on tables or behind your stall so that no-one can trip over them (insurance risk).
     
  9. Standard inside sites are 1.8 metres or 6 feet long.  All table covers to go to the floor in front of your trestle to cover excess stock or boxes i.e. no boxes in front of the trestle (insurance risk) 
     
  10. Please unload your car and move it to the car park before 8.30 amas stallholders need to set up outside as well. If you are running late, please ring 0413415499 or 0428844236 by 8.30 am or your site will be reallocated.  
     
  11. Thank you for your co-operation and support of the market. Our committee members will do their best to help you as stallholders. If you have any constructive ideas to improve the market please talk to one of the organisers.
     
  12. All proceeds of the market go towards improvements to the hall and the market, advertising signs, maintenance of the hall etc.

The Meadows Easter Fair has been awarded the "Community Event of 2012" at the Australia Day Awards on Australia Day 2013. This award has been received by the Meadows Memorial Hall Committee, volunteers, the stallholders and visitors who, together, have made the Easter Fair the best community event in the region.

The Meadows Easter Fair is held over the four days of Easter each year. There is a wide range of stalls to investigate as there are aboiut 30 stalls within the various rooms of the hall and another 70 stalls outside in the bitumenised car park.

 Free off street parking is available and there are plenty of toilets at the park or in the hall. The fair opens at 9 am and closes at 4 pm

History of the Fair

The first fair was held in 1997 with about 50 stalls. The Meadows Easter Fair has grown quicklly to its present 100 stalls.

The Meadows Easter Fair has become one of the most popular fairs in the region.
